Ski Touring Adventures
Ski touring in La Grave is all about freedom. Head out for a day tour, or link several together on a hut-to-hut journey through the high mountains of La Meije. It all begins on the northern edge of the largest national park in France, where the crowds fade away and a different world opens up.
Skiers Lodge is the ideal base for it. Some of the classic alpine tours start right here or within an easy one-hour hike, and lead you straight into some of the most spectacular terrain in the Alps.
Ski touring can be enjoyed at every level, but once you climb above the alpine line, the mountain plays by its own rules. It pays to respect that. Whether you dream of back-country skiing or ski mountaineering in more exposed terrain, the Écrins National Park offers endless tours to choose from.
The high-altitude glaciers keep the snow in good shape all year round. April and May can bring exceptional days, powder falls are more common than you’d think, and good spring snow can often be found all the way down to the valley floor.
Unless you’re an experienced winter mountaineer who knows these mountains, we recommend heading out with a qualified high-mountain guide. They’ll find the best snow, read the conditions and get you home safely.
From mid-March, the huts open their doors with guardians in place, and it’s the perfect time for multi-day hut-to-hut touring. Travel lighter, ski further, and end each day with a home-cooked meal and a roof over your head. After a long day in the mountains, there’s nothing quite like it.
It’s also when our guests and guides shift into touring mode. At Skiers Lodge you’ll find Bed & Breakfast, and on selected evenings a barbecue on the terrace. Leave your extra luggage and gear with us while you spend your nights in the huts. Your guide books the huts and sorts out local transport, so all you need to bring is the legs.
Huts have limited space, so book early. Groups of four per guide are the sweet spot: enough room to plan a solid Plan A for the route and huts, and to switch to Plan B if conditions aren’t right. Every day starts with a morning safety briefing, and your guides handle the planning, safety and coordination from there.

Mountain huts can only accommodate a limited number of people. Advance booking is highly recommended. The client should pay the accommodation costs direct to the refuge keeper for bed, food and beverage. Also for the guide expenses for food and daily beverage.
The guide ratio for certain touring routes are based to one guide to 2 clients ratio! Let us know!
Your guide will organize the reservation in a mountain hut and sort out all local logistics.

Private Guide Fee Per Day: 600€ for the first day and 550€ for the following days depending on commitment and engagement of choose of route by the guide!
